Art Tasting by Premier Art
|
| |
The Bessie Smith Cultural Center has teamed up with the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga and Premier Art LLC to offer an "Art Tasting" on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 12:30 p.m.. The event is free but has limited seating available. Lunch will be provided at no cost to attendees of the Art Tasting. To reserve your spot call (423) 266-8658 or email info@bessiesmithcc.org.
About Art Tasting:
"Premier Art began offering 'Art Tastings' by Premier Art as a no-cost option to inform, educate and hopefully, inspire, potential art collectors to begin their own collections," said Premier Art Partner Onaje Henderson. " 'Art Tastings' by Premier Art are very similar to wine tastings in that many different original works of art, created by Premier Art's artists, are brought to a central location, typically the home of a collector, future collector or art enthusiast, and are displayed and discussed at length. We educate invited guests on how the works are created, how to ascertain quality art, how to protect their investments when they begin collecting and various methods artists use to create their pieces. What is most important is guests have the opportunity to meet some of the artists whose works we display and ask them specific questions about the pieces to help them make an informed decision prior to purchasing."
Attendees of 'Art Tastings' by Premier Art have identified collecting original works of art as an investment opportunity, especially in today's volatile economic environment where traditional investment options like stocks, bonds and even retirement accounts are no longer recession-proof. Original works of art never depreciate and if properly cared for, increase their value exponentially.
Premier Art also utilizes 'Art Tastings' by Premier Art as a way to familiarize future collectors with the world of original African-American art in a non-threatening, unconventional manner.
"One of the major challenges in trying to encourage people to collect original art has been overcoming the perception of art collecting as an exclusive realm," continued Henderson. "In reality, art should be a part of life; accessible and enjoyable on a personal level for people of all backgrounds. It should be fun. 'Art Tastings' by Premier Art allow people to learn, touch and feel original works of art in a way they otherwise would not have been exposed."
Premier Art, which has been featured on national television programs such as MTV Cribs and HGTV's Ground Breakers, as well as Fox-5's Good Day Atlanta, offers two exclusive programs that enable those interested in purchasing a painting the opportunity to try it out before making a commitment. |

|
| |
Join us and Brewer Media after the Strut for the only OFFICIAL Bessie Smith Strut after party featuring the Soul Rebels Brass Band.
About the Soul Rebels Brass Band:
Imagine blending the sounds of Mardi Gras funk, soft rock, and reggae so seemingly it defies category. Now shrink that idea into a seven-piece ensemble, add a hip hop sensibility plus a hundred years of New Orleans jazz tradition, and youll get the Louisiana sound known as the Soul Rebels.
The Soul Rebels began their professional debut with the famed Neville Brothers in New Orleans at the hot spot Tipitina's! The Soul Rebels rocked so hard and so strong they continued opening for the Neville Brothers and beyond. The bands hard funk groove has landed them gigs as an opening act for: Bootsy Collins, A Tribe Called Quest, Better than Ezra, Counting Crows, The Fugees, Digital Underground, The Roots, Brand New Heavies, The Gap Band and Robert Plant & Jimmy Page just to name a few.
